Lessons for the Church Year

The lessons for the Church Year are those which are listed in The Lutheran Hymnal . The Old Testament Lessons for the first series were chosen to coordinate with the Historic Pericopes, and not those which are listed in The Lutheran Hymnal, which are the lessons from the second series. The subject of the lesson has been included with each text in the first series.

Although we have used the text of the King James (Authorized) Version, many of the words have been changed to the American English spelling (e.g. labour, Saviour, neighbour, marvelled, etc. have been changed to labor, Savior, neighbor, marveled). We have retained the thee and thou, was well as the est, ist, etc. suffixes.

The texts have been indexed so that when you open the page you may jump to the text you wish to see using the links at the top of the page.

Those who insert the Scripture Lessons into their worship bulletins will find it quite simple to copy and paste the texts into whichever software you use. If you prefer to have the entire list on your computer, simply save the page to your machine and it will be available without having to go online.
